Cradle-to-Cradle eine ganzheitliche Betrachtungsweise.

Cradle to Cradle C2C-certified („Von der Wiege zur Wiege“) ist ein Siegel der gemeinnützigen Organisation Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. Ziel ist die Förderung eines Wirtschaftssystems ohne Abfall und zielt auf die vollständige Wiederverwertung der Materialien am Ende eines nachhaltigen Produktlebens ab. Auch entscheidend dabei ist, wie produziert worden ist.

Zur Entstehungsgeschichte zitieren wir direkt die Homepage von c2ccertified.org  "About the Institute: The Institute was founded in 2010 by William McDonough and Dr. Michael Braungart, who first introduced Cradle to Cradle® as a circular design philosophy in the 1990s. Co-authors of Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things and The Upcycle: Beyond Sustainability -- Designing for Abundance, McDonough and Braungart formalized the principles into the first version of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard in 2005. The standard is now owned and administered by the Institute which is governed by an independent board of directors. The Institute is headquartered in Oakland, California, with an office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands."

Das Siegel zeichnet Produkte aus, die positiv bewertet wurden hinsichtlich Materialunbedenklichkeit, Materialwiederverwendbarkeit, Nachhaltigkeit durch nachwachsende Rohstoffe, CO2-Ausstoss, Wasser-Abwasser-Management und sozialer Fairness.
